NOTES: Kitchen scales can be used to weigh scoopfuls of feed. Spring balances are available from many feed & tack shops or hardware stores. You can use bathroom scales for small hay bales – weigh yourself then again with a bale, & note the difference. If you can’t weigh feeds, I can make a rough guess if you give the size & shape of the scoops you use; or the time it takes to use up a bag or tub.
